X Factor – Sat 28th Nov

This week the contestants are performing two songs each, one Take That song, one Elton John song. This could be interesting, first up are the Take That songs, then the Elton ones.

GIRLS

Stacey Solomon“Rule the World” – Stacey has such a powerful voice and to hear  her hit the low notes at the beginning was nice, they’re tough notes for a girl to sing. Also, due to the key change the song is all up and down with high and low notes, extremely tough to do but she’s doing really well.

“Something About the Way You Look Tonight”- It took me a while to realise what this song was. She is singing it well but it’s not my favourite performance of hers. I feel she sang the Take That song better. Some good notes but overall I feel it was very average.

Jeeeeez her singing’s lovely but I struggle to understand a single word when she talks. I really wonder how she doesn’t hyperventilate.

OVER 25S

Olly Murs“Love Ain’t Here Anymore” – One of my favourite TT songs. Olly is good, but the way he’s saying “here” is grating. He avoided the really high notes but then did a relatively high and long note so I’ll cut him a little bit of slack. I still prefer him to Danyl so fingers crossed his Elton song impresses me more.

“Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)” – Not one of the Elton songs I know as well as others, but it’s definitely an Olly song, he’s getting properly into the swing of things, especially with all the half naked ladies acting as ring girls. This outfit is much better too. *swoon* Read more

Sorry for the lack of Saturday night blog again, social life and more urgent uni work got in the way, stealing my time so I couldn’t watch it before the results show. Again, this is another reason why there’s no live blogging. Next week though? If I figure it…

My guesses for bottom 2 this week

I think the bottom two this week will be:

John & Edward

Danyl Johnson

Group performance this week: “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go”

A very colourful performance tonight – neon everywhere and cheese, cheese, cheese with the song. Can’t believe we’ve gotten rid of half of the contestants already. I definitely prefer Lloyd’s hair the way it is now, so cute.

Susan Boyle Performance  – “Wild Horses”

The legend that is Su-Bo is singing her song and to be perfectly honest I’m not majorly impressed. Read more

No live blogging this week as I couldn’t get it to work but I promise I’ll try again in other weeks.

My guesses for bottom 2 this week

This week I think Jamie was the weakest, but overall I think the bottom two will be:

Jamie Archer

Lloyd Daniels

Again, I don’t think Jedward will be in the bottom two, even with the events of the past week.

Group performance this week: “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen

The harmonies are fantastic in this song. It still bugs me that they all lip-sync with the group performances though. Woooo Brian May does his guitar solo and Roger Taylor is great  on drums too. Living legends. My favourite group performance yet by a mile.

Shakira Performance  – “Did it Again”

I’ve never liked Shakira’s voice, I find it quite nasally but her songs are catchy nevertheless. I must admit that I cannot understand a word she’s saying in this song though. Not very keen on it, nor was I keen on “She Wolf”. I lost interest a few years ago, her initial stuff was better. Read more

X Factor – Sat 14th Nov

Queen week. This should be tough for them all. Freddie Mercury is very tough to sing.

Simon apologises for the palaver of the past week. Yeah yeah…not listening. Eejit.

GIRLS

Stacey Solomon“Who Wants to Live Forever?” – This is such a powerful and emotional song and she sang it so well. I didn’t type anything through the song because I was in awe. She definitely deserves to be there and is growing on me week by week.

GROUPS

John & Edward“Under Pressure” – Oops, John or Edward (I dunno which one’s which, but I could tell you who’s Ant and who’s Dec if you want to know) has just tripped up and ruined the big entrance. HAHAHAHA. Tin foil suits tonight. Oh deary me, it pains me to say it but this is probably their best performance. Mixing in Vanilla Ice was strange, yes so it samples the song but anyway….OH! They got a stage invader with a pineapple on his head…that’s rock n roll! **update – stage invader was Calvin Harris**

OVER 25S

Olly Murs“Don’t Stop Me Now” – His new dance move is a bit odd but overall his dancing and performing skills are great. I’m liking the hair this week. Oops he nearly went on his bum there! His vocals do suffer when he dances a bit too much but he’s still definitely my favourite of the overs.

Jamie ‘Afro’ Archer - “Radio Gaga” – He’s got a bit of an afro fringe this week…haven’t noticed that before. He’s wearing Olly’s trousers too! No scarf tied round his waist either. Wow! He certainly got the audience going with this song but I wasn’t majorly impressed with his vocals. The song seemed quite simple yet it was one that John & Edward struggled with.

Danyl Johnson“We Are the Champions” – I love this song and Danyl did it justice. He even gave me goosebumps at one point and considering I’ve never been a big fan of his, that’s a big thing. He put his heart and soul into this song and hopefully has picked himself up from where he was a few weeks ago.

BOYS

Lloyd Daniels“Crazy Little Thing Called Love” – Lloyd has the lady dancers as always. He seems to really suit this style of music and he looks very confident. I’m actually quite liking his vocals this week, to me it’s his best performance yet.

Joe McElderry“Somebody to Love” – Wow hard song but already I can tell he’s going to do it well. Joe has a knack of singing things note perfect. I haven’t heard him hit a bum note yet. The choir sounds great behind him. Woooowwwww, he got that high note spot on. I’m majorly, majorly impressed!!

My favourites from each group this week:

Girls – Stacey Solomon

Boys – Joe McElderry

Over 25s – Danyl Johnson

Groups – John & Edward (yes, they deserve to be here this week!)

Cowell Comment of the week:

None of his comments really impressed me tonight. Rubbish. haha

**Tomorrow Shakira will be performing, there is a surprise in store for Queen fans and the final 12 are reunited to take to the stage to sing their charity single.**

X Factor – Sun 8th Nov

Sorry, there’s no Saturday blog this week.

My guesses for bottom 2 this week

Lloyd Daniels

Danyl Johnson

It pains me to say that I don’t think Jedward will be in the bottom.

Group performance this week: “Hot & Cold” by Katy Perry

Quite a lot of dancing going on though, in John & Edward’s case it’s more like spasming and jumping. There’s a bit of a tartan/plaid theme with the clothes.

Black Eyed Peas Performance – “Meet Me Half Way”

Swanky entrance by Fergie on a crescent moon.  Lasers are going for my eyes though. Initial rap bit sounds like a stuck record. Fergie makes the Black Eyed Peas in my opinion, though ironically they started off without her. *break in chain of thought* Ooooooh Will.I.Am is flying!!  I have to say though, it’s not my favourite song of theirs, not as catchy as previous songs. As for the lyrics, a five year old could write them! Good performance though overall and good vocals by Fergie.

LINES ARE CLOSED

Leona Lewis performance – “Happy”

Leona looks so different to what she did when she was a contestant and this song, her new single, shows just how much her voice has improved since then too. She does remind me a lot of Mariah Carey with her whistle register. Amazing. She doesn’t have much of a personality even now though.

Results time!

In no particular order, the first act through to next week’s show is:

Joe

Olly

Stacey

Next through is…

Lloyd

Danyl

Last guaranteed place goes to…

Jamie!

That leaves John & Edward and Lucie in the bottom two.

Oh my goodness, I was really wrong with my guess this week.

The one week I don’t put them in my bottom two (because I felt they’d be safe, not because I liked their performance) they’re there!

I really do hope it’s the end of the road for those eejits. The judges won’t vote for them. Yes, Louis obviously will but I think Simon, Cheryl and Dannii will say enough is enough and vote for them to go home.

Singing for Survival

Lucie Jones“One Moment in Time” – This girl really doesn’t deserve to be in the bottom two. I feel she’s too smiley during this though. She should be putting more grittiness and emotion into it. Not her strongest performance but I hope common sense and genuine talent wins over novelty.

John & Edward“Rock DJ” – Oh dear lord, they practically hop, skip and jump out of the doors. Yes they’re entertaining, as entertaining as overly hyperactive 18 year olds can be. YOU GUYS ARE ADULTS NOW!! Jeez. Vocals are as bad as always. I don’t know why they think they can rap, they can’t do that either.

The judges say…

Louis – Sending home Lucie

Dannii – Sending home John & Edward

Cheryl – Sending home John & Edward

Simon – Sending home Lucie

Simon loves playing God and could have easily voted off the crap act but he knows they’ll make him loads of money so chickens out and lets the public decide again.

DEADLOCK!

The act with the fewest votes from the public and leaving the competition tonight is…

LUCIE!!

Not the right decision at all, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever! Lucie is fantastic!

My dislike of John & Edward has gone and I now cannot stand Simon.

**Next week Shakira will be performing and I am going to attempt LIVE blogging during the results show. Exciting stuff!**

X Factor – Sun 1st Nov

November 1, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

My guesses for bottom 3 this week

John & Edward

Lloyd Daniels

Danyl Johnson

Group performance this week: “Walk This Way” by Aerosmith & Run DMC – Red, white and blue American theme this week. Again Jedward don’t really sing, they get the talky bits. Wish everyone would just sing live though.

Bon Jovi’s performance – The rock legends take to the stage to plug their new album which is out tomorrow! (Yes I’ll plug it too, why not?) The song they sang was called “We Weren’t Born to Follow”. Jon still has a fantastic voice, though he and the other band members are starting to look their age. At least they can still rock – even if it is a bit softer than their older stuff.

LINES ARE CLOSED

JLS’ performanceI’ve been a massive fan of these guys from the beginning of the show last year and have seen them perform live a couple of times since – at the X Factor tour and the MOBOs.. I’ve supported them all the way so may well be a little bit biased but I find their new single “Everybody in Love” fantastic. I really enjoyed their performance and the dance interlude was a nice change.

Results time!

In no particular order, the first act through to next week’s show is:

Joe

Olly

Lucie

Next through is…

Jamie

Stacey

Danyl - Damn, he was rubbish this week too.

Last guaranteed place goes to…

John & Edward!!!!

This is a disgrace, I’m fed up saying it but it never fails to p*ss me off every week.

That leaves Rachel and Lloyd in the bottom two.

It will be pretty close between the two of them. As it is Rachel’s third time in the bottom two, the judges may vote her out, but she has far more talent than Lloyd so I can’t guess what the outcome will be.

Singing for Survival

Rachel Adedeji - “Stop Crying Your Heart Out” – A very emotional song, my favourite Oasis song. I really feel for Rachel, it must be extremely disheartening to be there again and again but she comes out fighting every time. I feel she will be stronger than Lloyd by a long way.

Lloyd Daniels - “You Are So Beautiful” – He has a sore throat at the moment so is singing the song as lightly as he can. His voice cracks a few times and my heart goes out to him. He kept forcing his voice towards the end though which isn’t a good thing to do and he has a habit of over-singing.

The judges say…

Dannii – Sending home Lloyd

Louis – Sending home Lloyd

Cheryl – Sending home Rachel

Simon – Sending home Rachel

Simon made a fair point as Lloyd is ill and can barely speak never mind sing. It goes to the public now…

DEADLOCK!

The act with the fewest votes from the public and leaving the competition tonight is…

…Rachel!

Such a shame! Lloyd was the weaker performer both last night and tonight but as Simon said, this was the third time she was in the bottom two so the public are just not getting something.

**Next week  Leona Lewis and the Black Eyed Peas are performing**

X Factor – Sat 31st Oct

November 1, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Rock week this week! For the first time ever apparently.

Ewww, what is Cheryl wearing? Think she’s taking style tips from Sinitta. Fans over the boobs? Jeez.

I reckon that Jamie will be strongest this week.  The pressure’s on.

No celebrity masterclasses this week as far as I’m aware.

GIRLS

Rachel Adedeji“One” – She looks fantastic this week, I really like her hair like that. I’m not a big U2 fan but she does sing this song well. Especially at the end, there are some fantastic long and powerful notes. Very soulful.

Stacey Solomon“Somewhere Only We Know” – I got goosebumps. Stacey really is growing on me, she still annoys me when she talks though. With the rubbish breath control she has when talking, I’m surprised she can sing as well as she does. She has impressed me this week.

Lucie Jones“Sweet Child O’ Mine” – Lucie is really coming out of her shell each week, this was a really confident performance. Her voice also isn’t very ‘rock’ and I think she sounds quite country in this song. The end riff wasn’t great but I know it’s very difficult to do, so I won’t hold that against her.

GROUPS

John & Edward“We Will Rock You” – The moment I dread most, when these two eejits come on. Singing a Queen song is a big mistake. They’ve chosen the Five version complete with crap raps.. They’re really out of time in the 2nd verse, they look terrible, make up is hideous, even if they do look like mini Edward Cullens. I do have to say that this is probably the best I’ve heard them sound vocally, but I can assure you that this is not much of a compliment at all.

OVER 25S

Olly Murs“Come Together” – A Beatles song, you couldn’t tell though. Olly did really well with this and put on an impressive performance. Wearing rather tight trousers again and he also ripped his shirt open at the end! *wolf whistles*

Jamie ‘Afro’ Archer“Get Your Rocks Off” – He is the rock god of the competition, always has been and always will be. I thought he’d have picked a song where he could have used more rocky vocals but he still impressed me and looked to be in his element.

Danyl Johnson“I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing” – This might be controversial but in my opinion he sounds terrible. He sounds off key and flat. When the chorus kicks in he picks up a bit but he’s just not the normal Danyl. Dannii said exactly what I thought. Great! Can’t help but wonder if Danyl’s doing the whole dejected thing to try and get sympathy votes now…

BOYS

Lloyd Daniels“I Kissed a Girl” - Ouch. He’s not sounding very good. Out of tune. Shouty at parts. Pitchy. Makes for uncomfortable listening. Yes Lloyd you’re a cutie but you’re not a very good singer. So far the style which suits his voice his best, surprisingly, is big band.

Joe McElderry“Don’t Stop Believin’” – He’s not a rock god in any way, shape or form but I do heart him. He has a fantastic voice and sings this classic Journey song with ease. Joe impresses me every week regardless of what style he sings.

My favourites from each group this week:

Girls – Stacey Solomon (though it was a hard choice to make this week)

Boys – Joe McElderry

Over 25s – Olly Murs

Groups – None!

Cowell Comment of the week:

I have no idea what twiddly and diddly were doing behind you

(To Joe about the dancers in the background during his song)
