X factor judges take to the stage!
Last night we were treated to double the songs and twice the drama in an epic rock and roll special!!
Not only a weekend of double performances but also a night of nail biting and stomach churning double eliminations…but who will go?!?
But before Dermot revealed the unlucky two contestants who’s dream would be left in tatters…we were treated to a trio of special guests.

One word...Phwoooar!!
First up, new British boyband sensation, The Wanted took to the X Factor stage. Resembling an older One Direction, the five boys almost lifted the roof with the screams and cheers from the audience and I’m sure a few girls fainted at the sight. Performing their new song, ‘Lose My Mind’ on a fairground themed stage, the boys lived up to the high expectations of the audience – whizzing around in bumper cars, they did not disappoint.
Being a partial to a weekly helping of One Direction, I have to say I was bursting with excitment waiting for Beiber Fever to take to the stage (weird, I no). However, disappointing is not even the word to describe his performance. Now, my friends and I have often discussed the terrible miming from some of this years contestants during the Sunday night group number, but seriously this miming just took it to a whole new extreme. The teeny bopper is quite the mover, impressing the audience with some seriously cool dance moves while MIMING to a medley of his top tracks. I tried so hard to like it but that sadly not even the dance moves were enough to win me over.

One very classy lady...Miss Nicole Scherzinger
Saving the best for last, next up was Louis Walsh favourtie, Nicole Scherzinger. Returning to the show after her extended stint on the judging panel earlier in the series, the pop diva wowed the audience and judging panel panel with a LIVE performance of her new song, ‘Poison’. Dressed to impress head-to-toe in a skin tight PVC catsuit, Miss Scherzinger showed that she is not the shy, demure person we seen earlier this year but in fact an amazing performer oozing star quality and confidence. GO NICOLE!!!

After a real treat, it was straight back down to business as the double elimation loomed closer..voting lines closed and votes were in. Every week I tell myself to get a grip but I just can’t seem to help it, the nerves totally take over and before I know it I’m pleading that Matt and One Direction are safe.
This week the nerves of the contestants and judges were even more so, as Dermott revealed the four acts safe and through to next week’s semi-finals. Until there was just three acts left - Katie, Mary and Wagner. Was it going to be my lucky night, both my favourites through and finally getting rid of Wagner to?

Gracious as ever, Katie left with her head held high!
Dermott revealed that the cat with nine lives – Katie Waissel had polled the lowest public vote and would be leaving the competition immediately, leaving Mary and Wagner to battle it out for the last place in the semi-final.
First up, Wagner took to the stage performing Nat King Cole’s ‘Unforgettable’ (that is what you are), his effort was fair I will give him credit where credit is due. Next up Dublin’s Mary who works in Tesco, put her all into Shirley Bassey hit, ‘This Is My Life’, again she was ok…she may have been really good but I just personally don’t like her voice.
Both contestants had had their second chance and had given their all…it was now down to the judges to decide who deserved the final place in the semi-final.
Louis was the first judge asked to save a contestant, paying Wagner praise, he said he had no option but to keep backing Mary. 1-0 to Mary. Danni and Cheryl, both opted to save Mary, meaning it was a unanimous vote and Mary would live to see another live show.

Adeus Waaagner....
Unfortunately for Wager(but not so much for the viewers) it was time to say Goodbye.
Finally, some fair and reasonable voting. For the first Sunday night in weeks I could go to bed feeling happy and calm instead of the stressed to the limit state I had been in the last few weeks.
Adeus Wagner!!
Rock Stars?!?

It is rock week at the x factor!
Rock isn’t really my chosen genre of music, so it would be fair to say that I don’t really know much about it…but even me who knows nothing at all about the style can tell that the songs sung aren’t really rock but more pop, I would say?! I could, however, be wrong.
On a more positive note, we are back to the part of the show where each act treats us to two songs. The excitment is really started to build now, as next weeks quarter final rapidly approaches.
The Judges made their as always dramatic entrance to ‘Highway to Hell’ which hinted that this years rock theme was going to be a mere repetition of last years. Disappointing is all I can say…

Matt puts in another great performance singing, 'I Love Rock and Roll'
As much as I totally love Matt and I do think he performed – ‘I love Rock and Roll’ amazingly, we’ve heard it so many times before on the show. Surely there must be more popular rock songs out there that the contestants could sing to make the show more interesting and unique to other years? I would love at this point to provide a list of really great rock songs that as possible options but sadly that is very unlikely due to my lack of knowledge.
For his second performance, Matt accompanied with his trusty guitar took to the stage to sing, ‘Nights in White Satin’ surprisngly a song I have never heard of. I don’t know what the original sounds like, but the rendition Matt gave, I’m sure what have done it total justice. Another good night for Matt!
Matt Cardle – \’Night in White Satin\’
Everyone knows that the judges specialise in pop, so why they insist on picking a rock week really confuses me. However, as a music mogul, surely Simon must have some sort of knowledge or evidently not by his second song choice for One Direction.
Maybe I’m wrong and the judges are totally correct, but I thought Cher’s performances this week were totally awful. For one, you could hardly hear her sing due to the backing track being far too loud and the song choices were terrible, Avril Lavigne’s ‘Girlfried’ and Aerosmith’s ‘Walk this way’. I do usually quite like a bit of Aerosmith, or should I say one song, ‘I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing’ suppose I couldn’t really be classed as their biggest fan. Cheryl, was obviously too tied up with Derek Hough this week after jetting him over from L.A to keep her company.

Rebecca wearing gorgeous Roberto Cavalli dress and singing U2 classic, 'I still haven't found what I'm looking for'
From the moment Rebecca walked on stage this week, you could tell she was so uncomfortable with her performance and the songs that she had to sing. Minus the looking awful…she looked absolutely gorgeous…rocking a Roberto Cavalli leopard print dress (pardon the pun). As always, she still managed to deliver a great performance of U2′s ‘I still haven’t found what I’m looking for’ (finally a group I am familiar with).
Only bad thing about the performance was you would never have been able to tell that it was rock week from just listening to her song…then again I’m not really sure I could imagine Rebecca kitted out in the leathers, with hair backcombed, belting out a rock anthem. Her second song, ‘Satisfaction’ was good but it was an Aretha Franklin version and as far as I’m aware she’s a soul/motown singer?!? Nevertheless, she sang the song well.

The adorable One Direction singing - 'You are so Beautiful'
I’m not really a fan of Bryan Adams song, ‘Summer of 69′ but I would say it is some sort of rock song so brownie point there Simon and One Direction, for keeping within the theme. But Joe Cocker’s ‘You Are So Beatiful’ has got to be classed as a ballad and one of the songs that your likely to find on the specialised Valentine’s Day CD’s that come out every year. Saying that, they were extremely cute and I did really enjoy their performance.
For the first time every, Katie got applauses and stamps of the feet, instead of the boos she has become accustomed to over the past weeks. Singing Kings of Leon classic, ‘Sex on Fire’ I have to say she was pretty good, even if she did try a little too hard to turn into a rock star in the space of just a few mintues. Although, I’m not sure the song choice was completely appropriate given the story making the headlines this week, that her Gran is a prostitute and proud. Slightly controversial, you could say.

I'm sorry to say this...but the hareem pants and pumps combined with some hair extensions, really didn't work!!
Next up, were the over 28′s and as much as I’m sure Mary is a lovely person, she is really starting to grate on me. Her performances were average, not really anything special about them in my opinion but they weren’t terrible either. But her outfits…O.M.G they were shocking. Hareem pants, hair extensions and pumps…sorry Mary but you just can’t carry that sort of look of.
And then…the man of the moment, Wagner returns. The annoying sort of panto star, belted out ‘Creep’ and give praise where it is due, it was definitely his strongest vocal performance. Hats off to Louis also for picking that song. It could not have been more appropriate if they had tried – “I’m a creep…I’m a weirdo…What the hell am I doing here?” I really don’t know Wagner, maybe you could answer that for us.
After the last two shock eliminations…who will go is anyone’s guess. There is only five places in the quarter finals…meaning two will be getting the boot from the show this week.
Lest we forget

After last nights performance, I was confident my favourites would be out of danger and my least favourites, fingers crossed would be leaving the competition finally. That’s what I was hoping for anyway.

cheryl - the greasy look does not work!
I know the X Factor isn’t about fashion (or is it?!) but Cheryl what are you doing?? Two nights in a row you have really upset me with the terrible hairstyles…the flattened down, sticking to your face, greasy hair look does not look good on you. Please sack your stylists.

X factor final 16 recording charity single, 'Heroes'
Help for Heroes charity single – \’Heroes\’
Next up, last years runner up, Olly Murs returned to perform his new single, ‘Thinking About Me’. Remind me why he didn’t win last year again? His new single is definitely a catchy number and he gave a great performance. He was also looking pretty good

Cher and Paije face sing off
Then we were back to the results again…I still can’t understand why I get so nervous about it every week. It actually turns me into some sort of emotional wreck and gives me the whole butterflies in your stomach thing that you get on a rollercoaster. After being so confident this week that the contestants I liked would sail through, you can imagine the devastation in my house on Sunday evening when my two favourite performers of Saturday night, Paije and Cher, were in the bottom two. Seriously, what are people voting for? For once, I can’t really complain about Wager getting through after my anger at the way Cheryl Cole spoke to him, but if I’m honest I was still a bit upset that one of my favourites went and he stayed
In the Sing off, Cher performed ‘Stay’ a song she had sang earlier on in the competition. Not sure if that was completely fair and I know some of my friends were furious about it, but give the girl her dues she was absolutely amazing at it. Paije performed, ‘Stop’ and I thought he was really good but I think he already knew there was nothing he could do to stay in the competition.
Cheryl and Danni opted to save both their own acts, leaving the ultimate decision down to Simon and Louis. Both judges chose Cher to stay meaning Paije faced elimation from the competition. I felt so sorry for him, he definitely did not deserve to go home.

Goodbye Paije...
Council Estate Chav?!?!

The build up to Saturday nights X factor was very eventful after the controversial exit of Aiden Grimshaw on last Sunday’s show. There have been many reports suggesting that the X Factor vote has been rigged to save Katie Waissel, after Simon Cowell allegedly paying to get her released from her American record deal. It is fair to say that rumours are flying left, right and centre and no one really knows what to believe.

The Beatles!!
This week, the contestants took on songs from the legendary Beatles. I have to admit, I’m not a big fan of The Beatles or that much of their music…so I was already slightly bored when Dermot revealed the theme, however, my mind was quickly changed when Matt took to the stage and belted out ‘come together’ in his first ever ‘big production number’.
The performances in general, were all good with the obvious exception of Wagner. However, my personal favourites were Cher, Paije and surprising even to myself…Katie. Cher sang one of John Lennon’s greatest hits, “Imagine”. Opting for the chance once again to show that she can sing as well as rap. This decision to show off her bare vocals really worked in her favour and demonstrated the more angelic and likeable side of Cher.
After Simon’s harsh comments last week stating that Paije would never win, Paije totally stole the show with his rendition of ‘Let It Be’. I’ve always really liked Paije as a person and I think most people watching feel the same, but this week he really stood out and showed the judges and the nation that he is a real contender.
Paije Richardson – \’Let It Be\’
The final performance of the night came from the girl everyone loves to hate, Katie. Before she came on, I had decided that I wasn’t interested in listening to her performance as I thought she robbed Aiden of his place in the competition last week, but I hold both my hands up and admit she was amazing! Singing the most personally appropriate song of the night, ‘Help!’ in my opinion she really proved that she deserved still to be in the competition.
Two of my usual favourites, Rebecca and One Direction sort of let me down with their performances. Don’t get me wrong they were good, but just not as good as what they have been in previous weeks. Please do better next week…as I don’t think I could cope without seeing both Harry and Zain from One Direction on a Saturday night
My major moan of the week is coming up…BEWARE!!!

Cheryl vs Wagner....who will win?!?!
I totally love Cheryl Cole, she has the figure and looks that every girl dreams of having and since joining the X Factor has become the nation’s sweetheart. Every week I wait with great anticipation to see what she will be wearing and how her hair and make up will be (sad I know but it is a girl thing). However, this week she really let me down with her inappropriate comments and argument with Wagner.
Now, I am probably one of Wagner’s biggest critics but this week I really believe he shouldn’t have gone out, after the personal attack he experienced from Cheryl. The judges are supposed to be there to provide constructive criticism on the act’s performances and from time to time this isn’t always the case especially when you have an act like Wagner who really can’t sing or perform, but Cheryl overstepped the mark in my opinion.
“I’ve heard this week you have been making some comments about me to the press about being from a council estate,” Cheryl said after Wagner’s (awful) performance.
“Yes I am. And I am proud of my roots,” Cheryl added.
A visibly shocked Wagner responded by saying: “I did not know the man was a journalist (surely has to be the quote of the series.)
“ Don’t believe everything you read in the papers. What I said was that Cheryl is a role model for people in this nation. I believe that she came from a council estate and lots of people from council estates don’t believe they can make it and you are a role model to them.”
Cheryl looked tearful after listening to Wagner, but no apology was made to him. Clearly, the comments made by Wagner were personal to Cheryl and shouldn’t have been said. However, this should have been dealt with before the live show began and Wagner should have received feedback on his performance rather than a comment he made. After watching Cheryl tell Piers Morgan that she hopes the public don’t believe everything that is printed in newspapers and magazines, you would think she would be the least likely person to believe something that she read?!? Obviously not.
Michael Buble is certainly not a guilty pleasure..

The gorgeous Michael Buble performing his new single - 'Hollywood'
After the high standard of last night’s live show, it was incredibly hard to predict who would be in the bottom two and who would be leaving the show for good. I obviously wished hard that Wagner would go, but really what are the chances of that happening?
Kicking off the two live performances, X Factor regular, the incredibly talented Michael buble took to the stage. I do have to repeat, he is definitely not something I am embarrassed to admit that I LOVE!! Interrupting his holiday to perform on the X Factor, he sang his new single ‘Hollywood’ live for the first time on television. It is clear to say, he brightened up my Sunday evening.
Next up X Factor’s own, Cheryl Cole took the stage to perfrom her latest single ‘Promise This’. According to Sky news, the judge created controversay and angered viewers by miming alone to a pre-recorded backing track. Personally, I thought she was really good and looked gorgeous, as always.

Treyc and John wait with Dermott to hear their fate...
Next came the nail biting part of the show, as the acts were told who was safe and who would be facing the dreaded sing off. John Adeleye and Treyc Cohen were placed in the bottom two by the viewers at home and I have to say I wasn’t really surprised. Although, believe or not I was outraged that Wagner sailed boldly through to week 4.
As expected, Louis and Cheryl saved their own acts, while Danni voted to save Treyc meaning the final decision was left to Simon to make. After deliberating for what seemed about 10minutes, Simon decided based on the sing-off performances that he would be sending John home, saying he failed to reach the standard that he had in his first audition.
So boring, no personality Treyc lived to see another day.
