I have pasted the following from the UISP newsletter:
From the next November 20th until December 20th the streets of every Italian region will be crossed by the Antimafia Carovans. The initiative has been launched by Arci, Libera (in which there is Uisp too), Avviso pubblico, with the collaboration of Cgil, Cisl, Uil Cia, Ics, Fondazione Cesar-Unipol, Banca Etica, some Municipalities and Provinces of Italy. About the edition in Emilia Romagna, the Antimafia Carovan is an opportunity to give visibility to over 1000 associations engaged against mafia, Daniele Borghi, Uisp ONG Peace Games President, said. Seven provinces and fourteen municipalities will be implicated: thirty events in thirteen different stops. “
The good news is that University of Bologna, in the person of Pier Ugo Calzolari, the Chancellor, will be welcoming, don Ciotti, (Gruppo Abele) and Nando della Chiesa, Under- Secretary for the University (son of the assassinated General Carlo Alberto della Chiesa) in the magnificent setting of the Sala del Centenario at the University of Bologna to sign a cooperation agreement with the association Libera.

The times they are a-changing? Is this a hopeful sign that from now on professors, researchers and staff at the University will actually be encouraged to promote a culture of legality though their teaching and their university projects?
High time! The signing of an official agreement to promote a culture of legality in higher education, starting with the University of Bologna, will be a real boost for teachers and researchers who would like their work at the university to reflect a spirit of “co-responsibility” in defeating the mafia and other forms of organised crime. It will give them (us!) enormous moral support in encouraging us to break the wall of silence which surrounds the subject of the Mafia even in enlightened Northern towns like Bologna.
Watch this space for an up-to-date report on the event.
